How to use the new search box » Posted on Mon 20/06/05

Introduction

The search facilty on the website works in Internet Explorer and Mozilla (Firefox) based browsers. It will search for:

This is all done on-the-fly and begins searching as you type in the search box.

To help you there are labelled images at the bottom of the page. You can also click on any image and the text describing the image will be highlighted in red underlined text, clicking another image will change the highlighting to the relevant text. You can also click on the description text, and the relevant image's border will be highlighted.

Where is it? How do I use it?

First if you hadn't noticed, the search box is on the left hand side of every web page below the main menu options. (Fig.1)

To start using it all you have to do is to start typing into the box. The text "Enter Search Query" will disappear once you click in the box. Once you have typed one letter it will show you the results found so far almost immediately. For example if you wanted to find the Map page to Worfield CC you would start by typing in w into the search box. The results would then be displayed below the search box (Fig.2). You can continue to refine your search further if you want or simply click on the link displayed. The main menu will disappear, to reshow it click on SHOW MENU at the top left.

If you are searching for players, the search will look at both the persons first name and surname. So if you were looking for John Smith and typed s it would match the s against the surname Smith and display that person as a result. Figure 2 shows and example of this, and Figure 3 shows the refinement working.

You can search for site features too, such as to find the maps page type map into the search box (Fig. 4).

Finally if no results are found it will say so, as in Figure 5.

How to make a new Query?

To make a new query simply delete all the text in the search box and start typing again, or simply double click inside the text box and this will clear your query
