Women's & Girls meeting tonight at Worfield

For those people who cannot make this evening's meeting - thank you to those who have let me know  -here is a brief outline of some of the issues I hope to cover. Check back for update after the meeting.
We propose to run teams for U11, U13 and U15 age groups. I also hope that we will be in the position to enter a team in the Women's 6-a-side indoor competition  that the SCB (Shropshire Cricket Board) hope to run mid March to the end of April. PLEASE NOTE that those U15 girls who are now in year 10 would have a big part to play in this competition if we do take part. I would also like to get a women's team up and running for next summer. We need some players aged 16 and over. Therefore I am asking if you or anyone you know would like to join us. You and they need no experience of playing cricket at all- this is an excellent opportunity to start playing. If I know well in advance  what numbers we have, I would plan some indoor training sessions before the season starts - for inexperienced players in the first place, but if we have the capacity, then experienced players would be included. Then, I hope we- you and I,would be confident about competing against other teams. I have some friendlies lined up already and hope to add to these.
For some or all of this we need helpers as well as players. This can come from those already involved at the club and new comers. Please see the list that follows of some of the roles and areas that I know or expect that we will need help with. Please note that anyone giving their time will be supported in their role and this will be co-ordinated by myself, or if it is match day help, by the team's Manager.

End of season presentations and meeting

After an unforgiveable gap in entries, I am adding some details of forthcoming events.

Women and Girls Cricket at Worfield: U11s, U13s, U15s through to a Women's Team

We will be holding a meeting at Worfield Cricket Club on Friday 21st October at 7.30pm. This is for girls and their families who are currently members of the Club and anyone who is thinking of joining us and may want to know a little more about what we hope to do next season. Any plans we have in mind at the present time are up for discussion. The meeting is open to any interested parties including girls aged 8 plus along with their parents and adult women - players and those who have never played before. Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be interested. This is an opportunity for you to have an input.

Yesterday, you should have all received an email detailing the arrangements for Worfield's Junior Presentation evening on Saturday 15th October, to be held at tWorfield Recreation Room, to start at 7pm.  Please remember to reply to Steve to let him know how many of you will be there. ( Juniors free, £4 per adult.).

For the U15 girls who played in the league play off:

The U15 girls, as winners of the Worcestershire Girls U15 League, have been invited to attend  Worcestershire's celebration of women's and girls' cricket. Please see below for details. Worfield Cricket Club have very generously offered to pay for the girls tickets. The trophy and medals will be re presented to any girls who are present on the night - hence if you do attend, please bring your medal along with you. If you would like to attend, please let me know as soon as you can and let me have a cheque to cover the cost of ticket(s) for the adult(s) who will be accompanying the girls - by 6th October- cost is £10 . I hope to let the organisers have our numbers by 7th October and a cheque with them by Saturday 8th October.

Celebration of Womens and Girls Cricket

Friday 14th October 2011, 7 for 7.30pm at the Graeme Hick Pavilion, The County Ground, Worcester.

The Worcestershire Cricket Board invites you and your family to come and join us in celebrating the achievements of the women and girls who have played cricket in Worcestershire for their Club in the Worcestershire Womens 15/15 League, U13 & U15 Girls Leagues, and the Lady Taverners Competitions and for County Womens and all County age groups. PLEASE NOTE THAT COST IS £10 PER HEAD AND INCLUDES A FINGER BUFFET

I realise that this last event may be difficult for some girls to attend because of the distance involved and with the event being on the night before Worfield holds its' presentation evening.

We have entered the Lady Taverner's U15 competition and may have a bye in the county semi-final. I shall advise you of our position in this competition. The U13 county representatives will be found as a result of a match between the winners of the central league v the club that perform best in the festivals to be held between clubs in the north of the county- held in the second half of July.  An U11 festival is planned for this summer, with the date and venue yet to be decided.  Good luck to all of the teams. I hope all of the girls have an enjoyable summer of cricket, both for the club in a girls' or mixed team and for county teams where applicable.
